“Unity and Discipline” is the motto of NATIONAL CADET CORPS. It is aimed to develop character, comradeship, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst the youth of the country. 

NMKRV Degree College for Women has a history of molding thousands of  NCC cadets since the NCC 3/1 Company NCC (with the cadet strength of 52) of NMKRV Degree College, Bangalore, is attached to 1 Karnataka Girls Battalion  NCC. It is serving under Karnataka and Goa Directorate.

The mission and vision of our NCC wing is to create awareness among the student community regarding their importance towards nation building. Besides, an NCC cadet is presented with a plethora of job opportunities in reputed government and public sectors. NCC fine tunes the personality of a person in total and mentally equips him to face the various challenges she may encounter in her life. NCC plays a role in ensuring to mold ‘a physically tough and mentally strong’ individual.

The total number of parades in a year is twenty. Training is held in the college campus. The regular parades include training in drill, map reading, weapon training etc. It also includes parades for firing, social service and adventure activities.
The adventure activities are parasailing, horse riding, rock climbing, firing, mountaineering, cycle expedition, motorcycle expedition, trekking etc.

Aims of NCC:
(a) To develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure & sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth to make them useful citizens.
(b) To create a human resources of organized, trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life including the Armed Forces and always available for the service of the Nation.
(c) To create suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

The Main Objectives of NCC Are:

  • Ensure overall   personality development of cadets.
  • Inculcate values , ethics
  • Make them self-reliant
  • spirit of team work among cadets
  • To prepare cadets to fight against all odds to achieve their goals

ELIGIBILITY:

ENROLMENT OF STUDENTS AS NCC CADETS

Eligibility Conditions 

(a) Citizen of India or a subject of Nepal.
(b) Bearing good moral character.
(c) Enrolled in an educational institution.
(d) Meets the prescribed medical standards.
(e) Age

  • Junior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) - 13 years to 18½ years
  • Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) - Upto 26 years

(f) Enrolment Period

  • Junior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) - 2 years
  • Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) - 3 years

ELIGIBILITY FOR CERTIFICATE EXAMS:

  • After two years of training – ‘B’ Certificate  
  • After three years of training – ‘C’ Certificate

Certificate B.

  • The cadet must have attended a minimum of 75% of total training periods laid down in the syllabus for the first and second years for Senior Division/Wing NCC (All Wings).
  • Break in the NCC Training Tenure of the cadet SD/ SW prior to appearing in the exam should not exceed more than 18 months at one time after his discharge to count his tenure for Certificate B Examination.

Certificate C.

  • The cadet must be in possession of Certificate B.
  • The cadet must be in third year of Senior Division/Senior Wing NCC Training.
  • The cadet must have attended a minimum of 75% of the periods of 3rdyear syllabus during the academic session.
  • Break in the NCC Training Tenure of the cadet SD/SW prior to appearing in the Exam should not exceed more than 18 months at one time after his discharge to count his previous tenure for Certificate C examination.

INCENTIVES TO NCC CADETS

  • NCC ‘C’ certificates holders are exempted from written examinations and have to directly appear for interview to  join the Defence forces as officers.
  • Preference is given to B & C certificate holders in Defence Services, Police services, Para-Military forces, Fire forces, BSF, Territorial Army, Industrial Security Forces, Public Sectors, and all uniform services.
  • 60 Engineering Seats, 16 Medical Seats, 6-7% of Post Graduation seats are reserved for NCC cadets in all Indian Universities.
  • Sahara India Scholarship and Cadet Welfare Scholarship are also offered to students who secure good percentage in the 12th standard examination.

CAPT.CHAITHANYA RAMESH

Associate NCC officer, CAPT.CHAITHANYA RAMESH underwent 3 months pre-commission training program at Officers Training Academy, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh for 3rd September 2007 to 3rd December 2007 and commissioned as aAssociate NCC Officer with the rank of Lieutenant. Successfully completed Refresher-cum-promotion course from 30rd July to 31rd August 2013 and promoted to the rank of Captain.

  • Awarded “The Chief Ministers Commendation”, government of Karnataka for rendering service of a high order while serving in the NCC organization.
  • Successfully completed Refresher –cum-promotion training at “Officer’s Training Academy” Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India from 1st July to 31st July 2013.
  • Stood second in order of merit by obtaining “SILVER MEDAL” in Refresher –cum-promotion training at “Officer’s Training Academy”.
  • “GOLD MEDAL” in Classical dance competition conducted by Bangalore University (2004).
  • “GOLD MEDAL” for best Drill in Officer’s Training Academy (OTA) Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. (Dec 2007).
  • “SILVER MEDAL” and ROLLING TROPHY”, Director General (DG’s) honor for securing second in merit at OTA, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh (Dec 2007).
  • “PARADE ADJUTANT” in Passing Out Parade (POP) OTA, Gwalior (Dec 2007).
  • Secured A+ grading overall in the Pre-Commission Training (PRCN) course, OTA, Gwalior (DEC 2007).
